Diane Allen

Diane Allen was one of a handful of residents of the CJ Peete public housing development in Central City who led a re-occupation of their shuttered community. In early 2007, along with other displaced residents living in New Orleans, they entered the CJ Peete and began cleaning out their apartments, which had received neither structural nor water damage from Katrina or flooding. After nearly two weeks of occupation, the Housing Authority of New Orleans (HANO) posted a notice that those residents who were cleaning their apartments could lose their rental assistance if they didn’t leave immediately.

Where is she now?

Diane Allen still lives and works in New Orleans. She has not moved back into Harmony Oaks, the new mixed-income community that replaced the CJ Peete.
